The International Documentation and Research Centre on Industrial Heritage for Tourism was established in 2008 in Zabrze, as part of the structure of the Historic Guido Coal Mine. The initiative to create the Centre came in 2005 from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Accordingly, UNWTO is one of the signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding establishing the Centre. The other three partners, all from Poland, include the Municipality of Zabrze, the Śląskie Voivodeship, and the Katowice School of Economics (GWSH). The Centre operates also under the honorific patronage of Polish Tourist Organisation (POT). The main Centre’s tasks are to teach, inform, present and promote tourism related to industrial heritage. In the modern world valuable journeys can be taken also in the “cyberspace”. The website www.cudatechniki.com, allows visitors to enter the fascinating world of industrial heritage in this specific, cyber-way.
